What does riding the faders mean?
Also known as “Riding the Faders,” gain riding is the act of constantly monitoring and adjusting gain as necessary during the recording process to prevent overloading the recorder. This is usually performed on the faders of a recording console.
If you're a hobbyist, then the PreSonus Faderport isn't necessary for you. It'll be just a nice accessory to have to enhance the experience. But if you're serious about your music and your mixes, then it's a worthwhile tool to have in your arsenal.
It gives me seamless control over my tracks when recording and mixing. I am a Studio One user so incorporating the FaderPort 8 was seamless. Incorporating the FaderPort with other DAWs appears to be easily done but I have no experience using it with a different DAW.
a gradual increase in the volume of sound, esp. of recorded or broadcast music, dialogue, or the like, usually starting from complete inaudibility. [1915–20; n. use of v. phrase fade in]
One of Studio One's greatest strengths is its easy-to-navigate arrangement window where you record, produce, and mix your songs. Being able master those tracks inside the Project Page makes Studio One very powerful and practical.
A superior solution for anyone who mixes in the box, only the FaderPort 16 provides 16 100 mm touch-sensitive, motorized faders in a compact chassis that easily sits on any desk.
The FaderPort comes complete with external, universal voltage PSU and USB cable, but unlike the original, use of the PSU is mandatory — there's no bus powering for those who don't care about a moving fader.
PreSonus Sphere membership benefits include licenses for the complete collection of PreSonus' award-winning software solutions for recording, mixing, scoring, and producing, including Studio One Professional and Notion, plus over 100 libraries of samples, effects, and loops, including the complete Spark Collection ...
Studio One allows you to re-pitch arrangements on demand. This includes arrangements that have polyphonic audio recordings and MIDI. Perfect for those who don't want the faff of re-recording, the ability to edit harmony after you've already recorded makes life so much easier.
Known throughout the industry as one of the most easy-to-use DAW applications of all time, PreSonus Studio One offers you a simple yet comprehensive set of tools to turn your ideas into complete projects.
What was the first song to fade-out?
Possibly the earliest example of a fade-out ending can be heard in Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 45, nicknamed the "Farewell" Symphony on account of the fade-out ending.
Many early fade-outs were added simply because engineers were short on time: To meet the demands of radio, or the limited runtime of one side of a vinyl single, they had to make the record fade out early. At some point, studio engineers found that the fade-out could also be used for dramatic effect.
As long as it needs to be to sound the way you want it to. There is no "standard" for something like this. I draw it in in Pro Tools. It's 4 bars long.
If you have short hair, a high and tight fade is a great option. This type of fade is clean and classic, and it works well with most face shapes. If you have medium-length hair, a taper fade is a good option. This type of fade can be customized to your liking, so you can make it as subtle or as dramatic as you want.
Most of the times, when mixing as in music studio mixing, send are all post. Some of the very few examples of pre fader is when you need to sidechain some effect to a track that could be closed (or have its volume automated), but you still need your sidechain to react to that track.
This type of fade can last anywhere from two to four weeks. As you can see, there's a wide range in how long each type of fade lasts. It really depends on how fast your hair grows and how often you get your haircut. Generally speaking, the shorter the fade, the more often you'll need to get it trimmed.
Like Pro Tools, Cubase, and Logic, Studio One remembers the “Audio Workstation” aspects of “Digital Audio Workstation,” and its mixing... The only downsides (and they aren't major) are non-“core” features lack a certain depth, and new features tend to go a number of cycles without improvements.
Audacity has 400 reviews and a rating of 4.5 / 5 stars vs Studio One which has 39 reviews and a rating of 4.79 / 5 stars. Compare the similarities and differences between software options with real user reviews focused on features, ease of use, customer service, and value for money.
At this stage, all the DAWs on the market are more or less equally powerful and full-featured enough to do a great job of making music for anyone. Your choice comes down to how you feel about working with any of them for hours, days and weeks at a time. For us, Studio One has got this feeling right.
Phantom Power or +48V is a method of sending an electrical current through a microphone cable. It is most widely used as a power source for condenser microphones.

Motorized slide potentiometers, or "flying faders", are incredibly cool. They are most commonly found on large mixing boards at high end recording studios, used to allow fine control of audio levels while permitting pre-set positions to be recalled in real-time.
A bus track is a track in your DAW that receives signal from one or more other source tracks via a bus. Bus tracks are used to apply effects or act as submixes to control and organize multiple source tracks at once. You may have heard bus tracks referred to as aux / auxillary tracks or return tracks as well.

'Bus powered' usually refers to USB connected devices which take their power from the USB connection and don't require an external power source. For example you might have a USB Hub or Repeater to extend your USB distance or number of connected devices.
