How long does microblading last without touch up?
The pigment used in microblading is semi-permanent and can last between 1-3 years. The pigment will begin to fade within 12 months. In order to keep your brows looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12 months to 24 months maximum.
Without the touch-up, your eyebrows will look patchy and irregular as they do at the end of the healing period. If you do not get a touch-up after 18-30 months , the pigment will start to fade and you will not be able to retain the look indefinitely.
Microblading, which is completely safe with a qualified artist, is meant to be semi-permanent. This means it is a semi-permanent tattoo that is intended to fade with time. With no touch-ups, microblading should fade completely within two years after the initial service.
To answer the question, yes, microblading fades completely. Since it is a semi-permanent treatment, it will likely fade over time.
Without these touch-ups, Menendez says, you will see the microbladed brows fade and eventually disappear completely after about three years.

Generally speaking, though, most people will benefit from microblading touch-ups every 12-24 months to maintain their desired look. Pigment may fade faster for those with oily skin or who regularly exfoliate their face. In these cases, more frequent microblading touchup appointments may be needed.
- Microblading won't stop your natural hair growth.
- Your microblading artist can make or break your look.
- The healing process can take up to a month.
- Follow after-care instructions for best results.
- Avoid the sun and products with retinol post-treatment.
Day 5-12 – The brows will start to peel and scab in some areas. DO NOT PICK! During this time the skin underneath the scabs may look light and ashy and may look like the strokes have disappeared, this is the ghosting stage and is normal (don't freak out) Be patient!
What Does Microblading Look Like After 5 Years? If it's been five years since you last had your eyebrows microbladed, you can expect to see them turn reddish-orange or grayish-blue. Since we're talking about a semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing technique, color fading is normal.
What does bad microblading look like?
If they went too deep in the skin the microblading will scar, turn grayish, blotchy, and dark. If the color is completely gone and we cover with a powder brow there may still be scars. Scars do not retain pigment very well so you might need an additional touchup which will have a charge.
If you start to notice the pigment is in the healing scabs, this is an indicator that it is being pushed out and was not placed deep enough. After two weeks, it will be gone entirely. The unfortunate side to this is that you will have to get the procedure done again, preferably by a different artist.
Around 7-14 days, you may notice some flaking/shedding of the skin near the brow area. When the skin flakes off, many times the Microblading strokes have disappeared. THIS IS NORMAL. This is because there is still a thick layer of protective skin creating a veil over the pigment.
In short, no. Although there are some considerations which we'll get into more below, it doesn't seem that semi-permanent brow procedures have any kind of lasting effect on the way your natural hair grows, even when it seems your entire brow needs to be reshaped.
Your eyebrows will look dark for the first few days.
Like, really dark. “Microblading starts out much bigger and darker,” Cartwright notes of the step. “Brows also continue to darken for a few days before they begin to shed skin.” For the first four days I had as close to caterpillar eyebrows as you could imagine.
Since these lines will look like real eyebrow hairs, this treatment will make your brows look thicker and more attractive. This treatment is not designed to permanently remove any of the hair in your eyebrows, so you might need to continue plucking your eyebrows after you receive a microblading treatment.
The hair strokes will fade. And once that happens, it's difficult to put them back in the same place. In the case of having oily skin, this effect will be faster and the pigment in the lines will start to blur. The results are blurry hair strokes- nothing like they looked like when you got them done for the first time.
As microblading never lasts more than a few months, you will require more and more touch-ups for the rest of your life. As you might imagine, this repeated cutting of the skin leaves you with permanent damage and may even kill your existing hair follicles.
Results from eyebrow microblading can last between 1 and 3 years. We recommend having touch-ups every 12 months. Our licensed aesthetician performs microblading and touch-up sessions at our office in Charlotte, NC, and will recommend touch-ups based on your hair and skin needs.
It's normal for permanent makeup to fade over time. Therefore, after your initial microblading session, you'll need regular touch-ups. This will maintain the shape, color, and definition of your brows. Generally, it's recommended to get a touch-up every 12 to 18 months.
How can you tell good microblading?
If the work is natural and you can't tell that it has been worked on, that means the quality is at its highest. And to be honest, its the reason why microblading became so popular – naturalism. So I've always found that the “microbladed” look is unnatural.
The texture of the skin causes the fine hair-like strokes of microblading to become thick and chunky. Because thinner skin is more prone to bleeding, many people will see their microblading strokes becoming darker and turning gray.
The question of "how much to tip for microblading" arises often. In instances where tipping feels appropriate, typically, gratuities range from 10-20% of the service's total cost. However, the specific amount can be influenced by the client's satisfaction, the procedure's intricacy, and personal preferences.
You will notice the pigment returning between weeks 2 - 4 starting to come back. If the color is still weak or patchy by week 6, don't worry!!!! In many cases, some unevenness of color is to be expected.
MICROBLADING MAY NOT BE FOR YOU IF...
If you have any kind of skin condition on or near your eyebrows. This includes eczema, shingles, rashes, or anything else near eyebrows. Taking Blood Thinners such as: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Coumadin etc.
